The holiday season is upon us, and what better time to send a kind message to friends, family, and clients. This December, the team at Springboard wanted to go above and beyond with holiday gifts to show our sincere appreciation to all that have worked with us throughout the year while also creating new conversations with prospective clients. With the proper planning and preparation, we were able to build out a concept, put together a gift, and make an impact as the year comes to a close.

Here’s a behind the scenes look on how we did it.

Decide on a Concept

Before jumping head first into this project, we started with a discussion of different ideas that can communicate our message. While we all agreed that sending sweets during the holiday season is a great idea, we brainstormed ways that we can make the gift-giving experience a bit more personal. We decided that highlighting the services we offer as a company into the packaging would give the gift a unique spin that is specific to us. We also decided to include a “Golden Ticket” in select packages to highlight a specific service and offer a discount. Clients would then be able to redeem the coupon in the New Year on new projects.

Messaging & Design

Once the concept was locked down, we put our heads together to write up copy that highlighted Springboard’s five main services: Public Relations, Marketing, Conversational Marketing, Design, and Social Media. Each bar provided a description of the service and how it can benefit the client’s company. We ended the messaging with a quick call to action to contact us for more information on the subject.

When all the messaging was locked down, I began to brainstorm possible options for the chocolate packaging. In the end, I chose a handmade plaid pattern as a nod to all the plaid that is worn during the winter months. By incorporating the five different colors in Springboard’s color palette, the overall look of the set would give a cozy vibe, while also being sophisticated and cohesive with our branding.

Assembly and Packaging

After several trips to grocery stores (we needed to procure hundreds of chocolate bars), craft stores, and printers, we gathered all of our materials and began assembling the gifts. Each chocolate bar was first wrapped in silver paper to imitate the silver foil found on chocolates in grocery stores. Then, one of five sleeve designs was wrapped around the bar and secured in place. Finally, the set of five chocolate bars were tied together with a bow, placed in a box with Kraft paper filler, and sealed shut. From there, they were brought to the post office and shipped to clients.

With the right concept, messaging, design, and execution, we were able to create a show-stopping gift that creates a lasting impression during the holiday season. Every step of the process was carefully considered – down to the flavors of chocolate, text on the wrappers, and the unboxing process. We have already received positive response on the creativity and execution of our gift and look forward to redeeming the Golden Tickets.
