It’s that time of the year again. The Super Bowl will be taking place this Sunday and it’s a bittersweet day for football fans. On the one hand it is the biggest game of the year, where we get to see the best of the best compete. On the other hand, it’s the last football game for a while, until September rolls around.
It is not a bittersweet day for companies looking to get creative and advertise during the big game. NBC has set a record deal for 2022 Super Bowl ads, asking for $6.5 million per 30-second advertisements. This is an increase from last year’s asking price which was $5.5 million.
The 2022 Super Bowl between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams is projected to reach a record audience. PredictHQ is estimating that this year’s big game will be the most watched Super Bowl ever. The National Football League’s championship game will attract 117 million viewers on NBC’s network. That would be an increase of 21% compared to the 2021 Super Bowl, which attracted 91.6 million viewers which was the lowest watched Super Bowl since 2007.
This year’s Super Bowl could surpass the most watched Super Bowl which took place in 2015 between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, which drew 114.4 million viewers and is still talked about until this day due to its controversial ending.
Although one team will raise the Lombardi Trophy, the 100-plus million viewers will be a boon for the advertisers, especially those in the cryptocurrency space.
