In an effort to make processes more efficient, and keep business afloat, chains and fast-food restaurants have to rely on drive-thrus as they work to stay open during the pandemic.
Taco Bell is one of the chains that is looking to find new ways to provide for their customers during this extremely difficult time. The restaurant voted as “America’s favorite Mexican Restaurant” in 2018 has introduced a new restaurant concept for 2021 – Taco Bell Go Mobile.
The new Go Mobile restaurants will be designed for mobile ordering and pick-up. Locations will be much smaller than the average Taco Bell restaurant, occupying just 1,325 square feet compared to 2,500 square feet.
The new restaurants will feature two drive-thru lanes including a priority pick-up lane with fast service for customers who order straight from the Taco Bell app. This new lane will supplement the existing, traditional drive-thru lane.
Like most restaurants and fast-food chains, Taco Bell Go Mobile customers can also choose the option to receive their order via contactless curbside pick-up.
“With demand for our drive-thru at an all-time high, we know adapting to meet our consumers rapidly changing needs has never been more important,” said Taco Bell’s President, Global COO, Mike Grams.
As everyone continues to power through the pandemic, this is a great move by taco bell as dining-in is not an option in most states. Contactless curbside pick-up and drive-thrus will be able to carry most businesses with winter right around the corner. It will be interesting to see what other chains follow in the footsteps of Taco Bell and begin to make the shift.
